The Wolves 1971 DVD9 VOB

At the dawn of the Showa Era in 1929 Emperor Hirohito has granted amnesty to almost 400 prisoners. One of those men, Seiji (Nakadai), formally a henchmen for one of Japan’s toughest gangs, must now learn to adjust in a new world where his former boss is dead and rival boss has absorbed his entire gang. Filmed in the the beautiful Shimokita Peninsula, The Wolves is a violent character study of honor and one of the quintessential gangster films of Japanese cinema. Hideo Gosha’s (Goyokin, Hitokiri) The Wolves stands as one of the best yakuza films ever made. Starring the venerable Tatsuya Nakadai (Yojimbo, Sword of Doom, Ran), the film is a commentary on Japan’s changing culture of the 1920s, a place where gangsters have become leaders of society and violence is a natural way of life.
